Hello friends! It has been quite a while since I have had a chance to update.. we came to Brighton on Monday, and the house is great, but without internet! (did you know that could still exist? haha) the people that own this flat don't use it much, and Graeme just has a wireless plug-in on his laptop, so it makes sense not to have to pay for it all the time.
So, Jen and I have joined the local public library and are using their computers! (Sometimes you just have to laugh at things like this) The house also doesn't have a dvd player.. nights have been interesting so far.. haha but we've been creative! It gets dark so early though, since it's winter, and since we're stuck without cars we're kind of in for the night at like 6:30! (wouldn't want us walking these streets in the dark!)
Angie came and dropped us off in Brighton on Monday, and both of us felt, well, as you might imagine we would feel after being dropped off in a random empty house in a town where we don't really know anyone, in a foreign country, without cars, without phones to call any family, and without internet for communication!! I think we've both definitely had moments where we have missed our families terribly. We haven't had a chance to skype yet either, but hopefully that will happen soon. We're going back to the Hansens tomorrow, at least for the weekend. (It's funny planning life so day-by-day like this..)
Tuesday we went to all the shops in Brighton (there's quite a lot within walking distance) to pass out resumes, then Wednesday we went and met Angie's neice Claire in the city for lunch(she's our age, and our new aussie bff!). We did some shopping- well, it's just looking really, neither of us have bought anything yet, and honestly probably won't! Everything is wayy more expensive here (like at least double the price- $20 for cheap mascara!!) Plus we're not way into the fashions here. at all. (i'll have to post about that sometime) Then of course it started raining, so we just came back on the train and walked home in the rain.. Again, you just have to laugh!
We're about to go and do some more job hunting today. We still haven't heard back from anyone yet, so please keep that in your prayers. It's easy to get discouraged, but I know the Lord has us in His hands as part of His perfect plan. (Psalm 121) We're taking one day at a time, and making the most of things while we're here! I'm excited because Saturday Claire is taking us to do something fun, hopefully if the weather's nice we'll go to the mountains by her house!
Oh, and just wanted to say thank you so much for those of you that have emailed me- it makes my whole day! Just like letters at camp, but almost better!! So please keep them coming!
The next post will have pictures and not be so boring I promise.. Just wanted to give everyone an update on what we've been up to!
