So little time..

Hello again! Sorry it has taken me a while to get to a computer again- our hotel in Sydney didn't have free wifi, oh and we kept leaving at 8am and getting back at 11pm! haha Mom definitely walked us to death. Friday was awesome. We walked accross the Sydney harbour bridge (and back), walked through lots of cute shops, went to the Opera House (beautiful!), then we went and visited bondi beach. If you have ever seen a tourist-y picture of a beach in Sydney, it was probably Bondi, and it's gorgeous. All the locals say it's "just for the tourists, beach so and so is better." But, Bondi is pretty great. There were people surfing in it, which I cannot imagine because we were freezing. Freezing.

It was after Bondi that our Friday adventure really began- Jen and I really really wanted to visit Hillsong, and since we were only in Sydney from Thursday-Saturday, the only way we could go is if we went to their youth service friday night. We figured out where it was, (the sydney campus), and began the trek from a cute place called "Darling Harbour." We assumed we could take a bus, but we ended up walking... I haven't google-mapped it yet, but I would say it was easily 4 miles that we walked! Finally, we made it though- and we were greeted by several students of the hillsong college there which made us feel very welcome. It was kind of funny though because this service was only for years 10-12 (10th-12th grade), so Caitlin was the only one that fit that description. They let me and Jen come too though. This was the Sydney campus, which wasn't the main Hillsong campus though, so it wasn't completely what we expected. But their youth service was really really cool and fun- kind of like a rock concert with games and Australian accents.

Needless to say, after we got back to the hotel Friday night, we were absolutely exhausted. Saturday (happy 4th of july!!), we went out to Olympic village- which was so so cool. I figured we should go, because that's possibly the closest I'll ever get to the Olympics. Very impressive, even though it's all 10 years old.

I do have so much to say about everything, but this post is already long! We arrived in Melbourne finally last night, and Rob & Angie and their kids Sophie (13) and Allie (10) picked us up and we're staying with them now. It's been really funny to see how excited my parents are to see their best friends again. I'm really excited for today- it will be fun to see all the spots of my childhood in daylight again!!

I've taken like 6 million pictures already (most of the opera house I must admit), and I'll post some as soon as I can get my computer all set up!

  1. O thank goodness I found this and you're still alive!! I forgot to give you tons of valuable information gathered from 6 years of living in Australia.

First- Everyone rides kangaroos on the roads but youve got to remember that it's on the opposite side of Americas. Youll have to ask ya Mum how to get a liscense.

Second- Fosters is Australian for Life. No one really works down there so you should fit in just great.

Third- When you're watching the Teley dont freak out if you see alot of Vegemite commercials and people killing crocodiles with boomerangs. This is the norm.

There are plenty more, but this should get you through atleast another week. Also why dont you consider keeping a non-electronic blog like me?

Also, I want a full cricket set when you come back. And a signed AUSSIE football by the entire Adelaide Crows Team. THX!
